Archaic Cannon

Norah Jones. Say her name, and for many, it immediately brings to mind the jazzy Sunday brunch soundtrack of “Don’t Know Why.” Except that “Come Away With Me” came out a decade ago and represents a completely different side of Jones.

When I began writing this post (week before last) I was under the impression that Thrice was hanging it up for good - at least in name. I had the feeling that we definitely hadn’t seen the last of Dustin Kensrue, perhaps just under a new monicker… maybe even a solo album (since he has released solo material in the past).

Talk about Iceland’s music scene, and the two artists that likely come to mind first are either Bjork, with her swan dress and lushly arranged ballads, or Sigur Ros and their symphonic post-rock soundscapes. With the new release “My Head is an Animal,” six-piece indie-folk outfit Of Monsters and Men add to the intriguing output from that North Atlantic island.

With the release of their first single Summer of Broken Hearts, Archaic Cannon Records is proud to introduce PALMETTO to the Record Label as well as the Artist Community. With the release of their first single and announcement of their premier show PALMETTO (www.palmetto-music.com), a band collective based in San Francisco is surging toward a fast start and hoping to take northern California by storm.
